Lapland Ice Driving is not your typical ice driving school: intensive track time, exceptional supercars, on-board coaching and 13 circuits on the agenda.
Why is Lapland Ice Driving not a driving school?
Are you looking for an “ice driving school”? You probably have a very specific idea in mind: a confined track, workshops, exercises repeated to perfection, and highly structured program. And let’s be clear: traditional driving schools have their place. They train within a framework, test, and sometimes certify. They meet a real need. But what’s also often the case: too little driving, only one (small) circuit, “ordinary” cars, low adhesion, no “in car tuition” and “small” progression steps.
So why is Lapland Ice Driving often referred to as an “ice driving school”?
Clearly, because you learn to drive on ice. But Lapland Ice Driving is not a school in the classic sense of the word. Here, learning is part of a 100% immersive approach: speed, plenty of driving, instructors of the highest standard, the largest driving centre in the world (13 tracks), exceptional supercars with best-in-class preparation. A true experience of driving on ice, in one of the most spectacular playgrounds around, and it is precisely this difference that makes the adventure so valuable.

A 3,000-acre driving centre in Lapland
Unlike traditional driving schools, here the setting is not limited to one circuit, but rather to 13, including 5 full-scale Formula 1 tracks, reproduced directly on a frozen lake in Swedish Lapland.
If you dreamed of driving at Silverstone, Sepang, Paul Ricard at Yas Marina or the Nürburgring, this time your dream will come true in a bigger way, because these legendary Formula 1 World Championship tracks will be covered in ice, and you’ll drift round every corner, even at 180km/hr!
This setting completely changes the approach to driving. It’s the only place where speeds in excess of 200 km/h can be reached safely, and in unique conditions. There are no barriers, no trees, and no obstacles around you. If you’ve been dreaming of drifting a Porsche 911 GT3 on all four wheels, you’ve found the perfect place.
Reaching 200 km/h (even on asphalt) is a challenge. Here, every conditions is satisfied to allow you to cross this magical threshold on the ice…. and whilst drifting, if you please!
“On asphalt, you control. On the ice you have a conversation”
A mix of emotion and driving control
The structure offered by Lapland Ice Driving is more flexible than that of a traditional ice driving school. Even if you’ve come to develop a specific driving technique, we know that you’ll want to have fun driving as well.
So, we’ve put together all the ingredients- without compromise- to ensure your success, and thus also a great deal of fun.
You’re alone on the track
Whether you choose Le Castellet, Silverstone or one of the other circuits, you can drive on them as you wish, and above all, stress-free. You won’t need to keep an eye on your mirrors, or worry about being overtaken by someone faster, because you have the track to yourself.
You’ll be able to progress at your own pace, without any limit on your speed. Whether you’re a complete beginner or a world rally champion, our program is “one-to-one” adapting to your level and to your aspirations.
Up to 8 hours driving each day
It can be frustrating having the opportunity to drive an exceptional sports car, but to be limited to only a few laps. This isn’t the case with Lapland Ice Driving, where you’ll enjoy a completley immersive driving experience.
Every day, your driving time is from 2½ hours up to 8 hours, depending on the chosen program. Of course, you’ll be offered instruction allowing you to increase in power throughout your stay. Obviously, it’s advisable to go from the least to the most powerful- always starting with 2-wheel drive- before ending with 4-wheel drive.
And this program is of course adaptable, according to your expectations, your own experience, your preferences or your liking for a particular car. You may be more comfortable in a mid-rear-engined sports car than with the rear overhang of a Porsche 911, for example. Everything is adaptable to offer you the best experience possible and, above all, to ensure that driving a sports car is straightforward, profitable and fun.
A driving instructor with you all the time
Throughout the day, an experienced driving instructor is with you as a passenger. Your instructor will make it easier for you to get to grips with the car and will be keen to do everything to ensure that you enjoy your driving.
The role of the driving instructor will also be to pass on his or her driving expertise and know-how to support you in your progress. Even if you are an ice driving beginner, their advice will be adapted to your level. And if you are already well-versed in the art of driving, you’ll be able to deepen your knowledge and mastery alongside your instructors who’ll pass on his motor racing experience.
Driving on ice is within everyone’s reach
You may imagine that ice driving requires days or even weeks of practice to master? However, this is not the case!
Whatever your level of driving, and even if you are not an experienced car driver, you’ll only need a few curves to feel the slight drifts caused by driving on ice. And in less than a morning, you’ll already be able to understand the principles of drifting- even if you’re not already four-wheel drifting.
Driving on ice is within everyone’s reach, and the results speak for themselves. On the first day 90% of participants manage to keep a car drifting. This number doesn’t mean that you become a driver in a day. It shows something more important: you discover that you can do it. You feel the balance, you gradually get the measure of a car that doesn’t react the way it does on asphalt. And above all, you progress at your own pace, without pressure or fixed programs.
Take the stress out of track driving
If you’ve ever driven on a track, you may have experienced it already. Before you set off from the pitlane, you feel your heart rate accelerate, and your apprehension increases. You might fear a collision, or going off the track, or be intimidated by other sportscars hurtling right and left around you.
The Lapland Ice Driving experience has been designed to eliminate this stress. That’s why each vehicle is on its own on a circuit, and everything is organised in such a way that driving pleasure is your first feeling behind the wheel.
Experience Lapland, over and above driving
A driving school is rarely a destination in itself. The experience often begins and ends on the track.
In Arjeplog, it’s quite the opposite. What you are looking for here goes far beyond just driving, and is part of a real stay in Lapland. The silence of the snow, the immensity of the landscapes, the feeling of being at the end of the world, the Northern Lights… everything contributes to the experience. But this is just the beginning. The Lapland Ice Driving experience can also to be enjoyed as a couple, and everyone can select the experiences and activities that will suit them. Are you coming to drive for four days? We’ve got you covered, of course.
That being said, if you are accompanying the driver but do not want to get behind the wheel yourself, there are various experiences are available. Skiing, snowboarding, dog sledding, spa stays etc. A full range of Nordic activities is available to you to make it a memorable experience.
In this way, Lapland Ice Driving stands apart from the traditional driving school by offering you a range of services, allowing you to come accompanied and fully enjoy the experience.
Memories that are much stronger than a certificate
Where a driving school issues a certificate or validates a level, the objective here is different. You leave with a memorable experience, thrills, a real achievement, and memories that you will share for a long time, often even wanting to come back to progress further and have fun again.
Eric M: “It’s hard to do better. It’s amazing to drive, drift on the Castellet circuit, Silverstone… on 50 cm of ice! The instructors are super professional and their level of mastery of the art of drifitng allows you to get excited about your drifts and other drives without any risk. A fantastic and wonderful experience. »
Peter B: “We had the last Porsche GT3, drifting from the first of 8 sessions. An absolute adrenaline buzz, 100 times more exciting than normal track days. Bravo”
Richard M: “During my participation in the Ferrari Challenge, I lost control of my vehicle several times. I came here because it’s the ideal playground to train in: it’s safe, you don’t risk damaging the car, and the instructors adapt to your needs. And as a bonus, we’re amazed! »
The figures speak for themselves: 70% come back every year. Be next!
