Paul Ricard Circuit
Created in 1970 by Paul Ricard, this course has
hosted the French Formula 1 Grand Prix as well as
many international events.
Otherwise known among experts as “the Green Hell”,
the Nürburgring has the reputation of being both a very technical
as well as a demanding circuit. It consists of two tracks –
the 20 KM “Nordschleife” (northern loop) which still hosts
the 24-hour Nürburgring event, and the 5.7 km “Modern Circuit”
which has been the home of the German F1 Grand Prix since 1984,
alternating with the Hockenheim circuit.
Silverstone opened as an aerodrome in 1943, during World War II,
near the leafy village of the same name. At the end of the war
in 1945, Britain was left with a large number of unused airfields
but had no great race track.
